In this Village Interest Group we will explore issues of social justice in America, and around the world, by reading and discussing pertinent literature. We discuss approximately 50 pages at each meeting.

Starting February 13th, 2023, the Social Justice Reading Group will begin reading Facing the Mountain, by Daniel James Brown (who also wrote The Boys in the Boat). This is a story of Japanese American heroes in World War II. Despite being shunned by much of America, they served with uncommon valor.

The next book the group will read, beginning in May, is The Worst Thing We Have Ever Done by Carol Menaker.

Our group meets the second and fourth Mondays of each month.

Facilitated by Village member and volunteer, Sarah Fleming.

If you are newly interested in trying out, or joining, this Interest Group, please contact our Member Relations and Volunteer Manager, Carol Appel, at info@VillageNetworkofPetaluma.org or 707-776-6055 for information. We are happy to introduce you to this group leader.
