Leave a Legacy

Making the Village Network a part of your will or estate plan ensures that we will always be here to serve older adults in our community. Learn more about leaving a legacy or bequest to the Village. For more information, please contact Cynthia Gregory, Executive Director, at [email protected].

Charitable bequests are simple gifts made in a will or living trust and cost you nothing now. Depending on how you establish your trust, your assets may remain under your control during your lifetime, and your bequest or trust designation will not be subject to any potential federal estate tax in the future.

Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you have reached the age of 72, and are required  to take an annual withdrawal from your IRA but don’t need it, you can avoid income tax on your required withdrawal by donating your money directly to a qualifying charity, which must be a 501(c)(3) organization. These kinds of charitable contributions, called Qualified Charitable Distributions (or QCDs) can be made without itemizing your taxes as long as the check is made payable to the charity directly.
