Emergency Prep Help (EPH) prepares seniors for natural disasters and other emergencies. We host accessible, no-cost workshops throughout Sonoma County, equipping seniors with critical skills, basic supplies, helpful resources, and practical strategies to prepare themselves for and to respond effectively in emergencies. Participants receive a FREE emergency go-bag and learn how to personalize it for their unique needs. We guide attendees to develop personalized emergency plans and take practical steps, such as identifying their evacuation zones, mapping out evacuation routes, registering for emergency alerts, and incorporating their pets into their plans. Other topics include earthquakes, heat waves, and what to store at home in case of extended power outages.

This is a two-part workshop; the second session, on Thursday, October 23, builds on the first. Each session has different topics and speakers. Participants should plan on attending both sessions.

PROGRAM GOAL AND KEY POINTS:

Each workshop participant will leave with supplies and education on how to stay safe in natural disasters and other emergencies. They will be more confident that they can survive the next emergency.

Founded in 2021, Emergency Prep Help (EPH) envisions a community where older adults stay safe, confident, and prepared in emergencies. Our co-founders, three women over the age of 55, have more than 60 years of combined nonprofit experience, much of it focused on seniors. One co-founder lost her home in a wildfire and later worked as a disaster case manager, witnessing firsthand how unprepared and overwhelmed many seniors were during emergencies. With this lived experience, EPH is committed to designing programs that are not only tailored for older adults (and their pets!), but also led by those who understand their unique needs.
