The California End of Life Option Act allows a terminally ill California resident to request a drug from a physician that will end the patient’s life. People who follow the steps of the law will not be considered to have committed suicide, and physicians who prescribe the aid-in-dying drug will not be subject to legal liability or professional sanction. This presentation will review the eligibility, procedure, and documentation requirements of the law.
Petaluma City Councilperson Dennis Pocekay, MD, is the former Chief of Occupational Medicine, Kaiser Permanente, and is an active volunteer in programs related to the social determinants of health. This Program will be held at the UMC Social Hall in Petaluma.
