If you have an hour for community connection and lifelong learning in pursuit of social justice, please join our book club. We are group-led and thrive with rotation of leadership and active participation by all. Books are selected by voting on those penned by prize-winning authors on topics sure to engage. Join us to meet interesting Village members and volunteers who study both historical events and current issues and listen respectfully to each other’s opinions and insights.
This group meets on Zoom, every other Monday.
Our next book, from Sept. 16 through Oct.14, is Matthew Desmond’s Poverty, by America. Acclaimed sociologist and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Matthew Desmond, gives readers new ways of thinking about poverty and also helps them imagine solutions. It is described as “urgent and accessible” as well as “elegantly written and fiercely argued," and was named a Best Book of 2023 by The New Yorker, New York Times Book Review, NPR.
